This mid-20th century contemporary home features a steep hillside garden in the backyard, with the stone patio space doubling as a catch basin for rainwater from the overhanging roof. Built in the 1950’s, the aged landscape had degraded to the point where a new scheme was needed. Paradise City Landscape Design created a design which retained the rain water collection basin with the addition of a floating Goshen stone patio. A native red bud tree serves as a specimen in a minimalist landscape reminiscent of a Japanese courtyard garden. The upper and lower stone terraces are visually connected, joining sunny and shady spaces for the homeowners to enjoy.
